PLYMOUTH —

The final funding for the Fourth of July fireworks display, set to start around 9 Saturday night, has been secured, and the show will go on.

Colony Place owner Saxon Partners stepped up Tuesday to make up the difference with a donation of $1,500, bringing Saxon Partners’ total donation to $2,000.

Colony Place Marketing Director Deborah Keating said Plymouth residents and visitors should be able to enjoy a fireworks display in “America’s Hometown” without its organizers having to dip into their own pockets to pay for it. She said it’s important to the Colony Place owners to contribute to activities taking place in their own backyard.

“When we realized there was going to be a deficit, we decided to give another $1,500,” she said.

The July 4 Plymouth Committee, headed by Ken Tavares, has been working to raise $63,000 for the fireworks show. Tavares said he’s thankful to everyone who has supported the fundraising efforts and pleased to announce the committee has just completed fundraising for this year and has started to raise seed money for 2010.

“We’re trying to get a little bit ahead for next year,” he said.

Tavares said the Colony Place owners helped considerably Tuesday with their donation. Other recent donations include $1,000 from a Town Meeting representative and $2,000 from a Washington, D.C, resident who visits Plymouth regularly and hopes to retire here. Tavares said he’s also grateful to WATD’s Ed Perry for his continuous support on the radio.
