Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra
The opening concert for the orchestra’s 2008-2009 season is the Classical I concert, Ode to Joy, featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, and accompanied by the New World Chorus. It will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. at Memorial Hall, 83 Court St., Plymouth. The Classical II concert, Straight from the Heart, is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, at 8 p.m. at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center. The Holiday Pops concerts, with the Pilgrim Festival Chorus, will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. The orchestra’s annual fundraising gala and dinner is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3, at Waverly Oaks Golf Club. South Shore Folk Music Club
The South Shore Folk Music Club presents concerts of traditional and contemporary folk and acoustic music at the Beal House at 222 Main St. in Kingston.
