Red Dress Fashion Show and Silent Auction
The YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts is holding its 7th Annual Red Dress Fashion Show and Silent Auction to raise awareness of heart disease in women. The event will be held at 5 p.m. at the Century House in Acushnet. The keynote address will be presented by Kate Fentress, executive director of the Women’s Fund of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts. The fashion show includes a collection of red dresses from a variety of local stores. Twenty-four community women, including Amanda Kelly, Miss Massachusetts and Ashley Hebert, Miss New Bedford will model for the event and 13 gentlemen in tuxedos from the Men’s Wearhouse will escort the models. Silent auction will feature a variety of items, baskets and gift certificates. All proceeds benefit the YWCA HEART plus Program. Tickets are $50. A private table for 10 is $500. Seating is limited. The Plymouth Girl Scouts will hold a townwide event to honor “World Thinking Day,” from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Plymouth South Middle School in Plymouth. This is a worldwide celebration of activities, games and projects with global themes to honor Girl Scouts and Girl Guides throughout the world. This year’s theme is “Together we can end extreme poverty and hunger.” Entrance to the event is the donation of a nonperishable food item. Girl Scout Cadette/Senior Troop 80262 is organizing the event (sixth- to ninth-graders). Celtic Music Night
