The Winter Art Show at the Plymouth Center for the Arts opened with a public reception held Jan. 13. The show includes stunning paintings, photographs, textile work and three-dimensional pieces.
This year’s winter show also offers a show within the show. Visual Inverse: Pairing Poetry and Art opens with its own reception at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in the Russell Gallery at the Center.
The winter art show will be on display from Jan. 10 through Feb. 19 at Plymouth Center for the Arts, 11 North St., Plymouth.
The Plymouth Center for the Arts aims to awaken the artist within all of us with its 2012 schedule of events. In 2011, with the addition of new, special programs, both the Center’s membership and the number of visitors increased and gallery shows have drawn submissions from artists across New England.
The next Poetry: The Arts of Words, the Mike Amado Memorial Series, is Sunday, Jan. 8, at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, at 11 North St., when featured poets will be Rich Berg and Pam Rosenblatt, with music by The Lindsays.
The Plymouth Guild for the Arts has begun a major restoration and preservation project on its two historic buildings at The Plymouth Center for the Arts: the Russell Library and The Lindens. Renovations are being done inside as well as outside, and it’s the Guild’s obligation to assure that the architectural, historic and cultural features of the exterior of the buildings, as well as certain interior features of the Russell Library, will be maintained forever for preservation purposes and to prevent any change of the exterior of the buildings that will significantly impair or interfere with its preservation value.
An exceptional group of young artist’s responded to the challenge set forth by the Plymouth Woman’s Club and entered the Youth Art Show. Fifty seven entrants rose to the occasion and displayed their best efforts at the Plymouth Center for the Arts. Art work was on display during Thanksgiving week culminating with an awards ceremony Saturday, Nov. 26. PWC President Sylvia Dovner officiated and presented the awards.
Plymouth's budding young artists have been working feverishly for the last two months preparing their entries in the Youth Art Show to be held at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, at 11 North St. Sponsored by the Plymouth Woman's Club and coordinated by Jackie Hill, the club's corresponding secretary, the show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21-26 and from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 27.
The Plymouth Center for the Arts will present its new "Late Fall Show" at 11 North St. The opening for this show will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21.
If you ask Plymouth Guild President Nancy Sealey what’s in store for the community at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, she’ll tell you it’s a work in progress.
Nearly five years ago, when Sealey was improving her watercolor skills in Andrew Kusimin’s class, she was invited to a meeting to discuss the beginnings of the new Plymouth Center for the Arts and she’s been involved ever since, driven by her interest in education and her conviction that creative expression is an integral part of personal growth and must be encouraged and respected.
The Plymouth Guild 44th annual Juried Art Show will be held at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, at 11 North St., Sept. 24 through Oct. 16.
Saturday, Sept. 24, the sixth annual downtown Art Stroll will also take place, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (rain date Sept. 25).
