Thursdays and Saturdays: The Plymouth Farmers’ Market is offered twice a week – Thursdays from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Stephens Field (Route 3A just south of Plymouth Center) and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the 1820 Courthouse Green (Court Street in Plymouth center). Saturdays in September: The Plymouth Antiquarian Society will hold Rural Cemetery Tours at Oak Grove and Vine Hills cemeteries, at 11 a.m. Explore the romantic history and landscapes of Plymouth’s 19th-century rural cemeteries on a one-hour guided walking tour with Dr. Donna Curtin, executive director of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society. Experience nature and art in one sublime setting, with decorative monuments and tombs nestled among picturesque hills, vales, plantings, and pathways, and learn about historic Plymoutheans interred there. Friday, Sept. 4 to 7: Edaville USA, in Carver, hosts its Day Out With Thomas, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Take a train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine through the beautiful scenery of the pine groves and cranberry bogs. Children will also have the opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, enjoy live children’s entertainment, play and create with LEGO and Duplo in the Imagination Station, and of course enjoy Edaville USA’s fantastic amusement rides. Saturday, Sept. 12: The fourth annual Downtown Art Stroll, scheduled for the opening weekend of the annual Plymouth Art Guild Festival, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, Sept. 13. The Downtown Art Stroll pairs local artists with downtown shops and restaurants to display, sell and/or demonstrate their art or craft. Sept. 12 and 13: Edaville USA hosts it Children’s Storybook Festival, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., where popular children’s storybooks come to life. Children and their families will have the chance to mingle with their favorite storybook characters. Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George, Wild Thing (From Where the Wild Things Are), and the Very Hungry Caterpillar will be on hand for meet and greet opportunities. Families can stay for all of the attractions that Edaville USA offers, as well as take a scenic train ride through the Cranberry Bogs during the harvest. Sept. 12 to 27: The Plymouth Guild for the Arts will hold its 42nd annual Juried Art Show at the Plymouth Center for the Arts at 11 North St. Hours will be Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The opening night gala benefit and awards presentation will take place at the Plymouth Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11. Sunday, Sept. 13: Enjoy an all-day, exciting wildlife cruise to support local marine education and wildlife conservation from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join wildlife experts as they lead this informative excursion to view coastal marine wildlife off the New England coast on Tails of the Sea, a 110-foot luxury commercial whale watching vessel. The trip includes guided commentary, plankton tow and demonstrations, chumming for seabirds, a full galley of food and free onboard raffle. Sept. 19 and 20: Edaville USA is proud to host Jay Jay The Jet Plane and Brenda Blue in their “Wing Wigglin’ Live Stage Show.” Set in the charming little storybook land of Tarrytown, Edaville’s guests will sing and dance with Jay Jay and Brenda Blue during a show the whole family will enjoy, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The admission ticket includes unlimited access to all rides and attractions including the live stage show and a two-mile train ride through the cranberry plantation. Sept. 26 and 27: Edaville USA celebrates our Community Heroes with a festival in their honor. Join in the fun, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with fire fighters, police officers, paramedics, members of The Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and many more. Show your appreciation for everything they do on a daily basis. In addition, Spider-Man and Wolverine, will be on hand to do meet and greets with the children and their families. Saturday, Oct. 31: An Old Fashioned Family Halloween will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Harlow Old Fort House, 119 Sandwich St. Youngsters ages 4 and up can enjoy ghostly stories by the fireside, try their hand at divination, design a witchy wand, and dip a candle to light their pumpkin. Cider and cookies served. Admission fee is $6 per person; children must be accompanied by an adult.
Nov. 13 to 15, 20 to 22, and Nov. 27 through Jan. 3: Edaville USA hosts an annual Christmas Festival of Lights. Weekday hours are 4 to 9 p.m. and weekend hours are 2 to 9 p.m. See Seasonal Celebrations for more details.
