BOSTON - The MBTA and Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company have announced that commuter rail service will be restored on the Old Colony (Plymouth/Kingston and Middleborough/Lakeville branches) and Greenbush lines for Thanksgiving weekend. A Sunday schedule will be in effect Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24.
Regular weekday service will then resume Friday, Nov. 25. Weekend service will then be temporarily restored for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 26-27. Weekend service has been suspended on both lines since the spring, as part of the MBTA's Old Colony Tie Replacement Project.
Following this special temporary restoration of weekend service for the holiday, weekend service suspensions on both lines will resume Dec. 3.
