BOSTON – The MBTA and Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company announced that weekend commuter rail service will be restored on the Old Colony (Plymouth/Kingston and Middleborough/Lakeville branches) and Greenbush lines for the remainder of the 2011-2012 winter season beginning Saturday, Dec. 24.

Weekend service will remain in place until spring, when the resumption of track work will necessitate further weekend service suspensions until the project is completed. The project is anticipated to conclude at the end of next summer, at which point schedules for both lines will return to normal. Schedules for both lines are available on www.mbcr.net and www.mbta.com. Note that Monday, Dec. 26, the lines will operate on a Saturday schedule.
