CARVER – Myles Standish State Forest is a place born of fire and ice, shaped by the human hand. Join park staff from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, to explore the area’s landscape shaped by glaciers and forest fires. See the natural forest community that is found through much of the forest and the pitch pine/scrub oak association that is uniquely adapted to the sandy soil of this area. Hike the 3-mile Easthead Reservoir Trail and explore the complex history that has shaped this landscape. Meet at park headquarters at 194 Cranberry Road in South Carver. The free program is for adults and older children. Dress for the weather. The program will be cancelled in the event of rain, snow, or icy trails.
