Bayside Runner, Brooks Running and the Jenney Grist Mill announce a fun summer 5K road race, run and walk to support the work of the Jenney Grist Mill. The Jenney Grist Mill 5K starts and ends at the historic Jenney Grist Mill and goes through the scenic Morton Park, in Plymouth.
The race will take place Saturday, June 26, and starts at 11 a.m. at 6 Spring Lane, Plymouth.
“One of the amazing things about having a business in Plymouth is being connected to centuries of history,” said Bayside Runner owner Adam Stuhlfaut. “Bayside Runner is excited to promote an event that helps keep our history alive.”
After the event, participants will gather in the Run of the Mill Tavern for an awards ceremony, prizes, and a raffle for Brooks Running gear. Tours of the historic Mill will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will continue to 4:30 p.m.
All race proceeds are donated to support the Jenney Grist Mill’s work.
About the Jenney Grist Mill
Plymouth’s Jenney Grist Mill is a 17th Century non-profit living history museum. Our educational programs offer a glimpse into the lives of our forefather’s and connect all who visit with the people, places, and ideas of the first settlers who came here searching for a new way of life. We believe that our country’s history is very important and that the children in the United States of America need to know and help preserve their history. We also believe that people learn best by visiting museums and other cultural institutions, especially those that bring us back into time periods like living history museums. In these difficult economic times we are trying to help families afford the cost of experiencing the rich history of this country together.
We began our “History for Kids” program to encourage families to bring their children to the Mill so they can learn about their heritage. This program offers free admission to children age 17 and under when accompanied by a parent or grandparent. We are very excited about working with Bayside Runner and are grateful they see the value in helping keep history alive and helping families to afford visiting a great museum. Local area banks sponsor the program. So far this season Rockland Federal Credit Union and BankOne in Plymouth are sponsors. We are looking for more sponsors to keep the program going throughout the season. Businesses interested can send a tax-deductible donation to the Jenney Grist Mill marked “History for Kids” to 6 Spring Lane, Suite 2 Plymouth, 02360.
