As the sun begins to fade, summer evenings heat up with excitement at ‘Plimoth at Night,’ the new line-up of evening programming presented by Plimoth Plantation and Mayflower II. Between live Shakespeare performances three nights a week, Plimoth Cinema seven nights a week, extended hours onboard Mayflower II and additional specialty programming like “Dog on a Log,” at the Wampanoag Homesite, Plimoth Plantation is breathing new life into Plymouth evenings.

What: Plimoth Plantation’s marine staff is turning Mayflower II!
In order for the famed, historic ship to weather evenly, Mayflower II is turned a couple times a year, to ensure the ship is exposed to the elements on both sides.
Gurnet Light has been offering guidance to ships since 1768. It stands 102 high atop “the Gurnet,” a bluff that juts like a pointy elbow from the long spit of sand that runs southward from Duxbury and Marshfield, and then right-angles west, pointing the seafaring traveler into Plymouth Harbor.
Project Gurnet and Bug Lights Inc. will provide free shuttles to the Gurnet for tours of the historic lighthouse later this month.
Two tall ships will be sailing into Plymouth Harbor again this year during the second Sail Plymouth festival scheduled for the last weekend in June.

Locally, the trout fishing is at a standstill at Little and Long Pond. Largemouth bass fishing is still good at Billington Sea, and Great Herring Pond is producing a few smallmouth. Steve and Bruce made a midweek trip to Long Pond last week, but all they caught was a white perch!
