Plymouth is a golf mecca and if you're looking for a way to take advantage of the terrific courses here, while at the same time giving back, consider playing in one of the many golf tournaments in town.

 

Fund “Fore” the Needy

PLYMOUTH – The fourth annual Fund “Fore” the Needy golf tournament will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27, at Waverly Oaks Golf Club in Plymouth. Enjoy an afternoon of golf with friends on a quality and challenging course, and help raise urgently needed funds to support the Fund for the Needy of St. Bonaventure Parish. Organize your own foursome or be matched up with other tournament participants. The cost is $150 per golfer, which includes greens fees for 18-holes of golf with a cart, an appreciation gift and post-tournament festivities, including dinner. Donations of auction items and services are sought. Non-golfers are welcome to join the fun at the post-tournament dinner and auction for $35 per person. Charity golf tournament

PLYMOUTH – Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts invites golfers to “hit the links” for the agency’s eleventh annual Charity Golf Tournament, Thursday, May 27, at Pinehills Golf Club on Clubhouse Drive. This event, on the Jones course, is Cerebral Palsy of Massachusetts’ biggest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds benefit the agency in its ongoing efforts to enhance programming and provide vital resources to thousands of people throughout Massachusetts. The fee for an individual golfer is $180 and includes 18 holes of golf, as well as a box lunch and sit-down dinner. The event will also include live and silent auctions, as well as a raffle. Make checks payable to Cerebral Palsy of MA and mail them to the agency’s office at 43 Old Colony Ave., Quincy, MA 02170, Attention: Golf Classic. PPO annual golf tournament

PLYMOUTH – The ninth annual Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra golf tournament will be played Thursday, June 10, at Southers Marsh Golf Club in West Plymouth. Registration and buffet at 11:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cocktail reception, awards, silent auction and helicopter ball drop begin at 5:30 p.m. The $125 entry fee includes greens fee and cart, lunch buffet, awards reception, hors d’oeuvres and a goodie bag. BSC hockey golf tournament

PLYMOUTH – The Bridgewater State College men’s ice hockey club will be hosting its 11th annual fundraising golf tournament Friday, June 11, at Southers Marsh Golf Club. The tournament will be a scramble format and prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams. Additional contests will be held for longest drive and closest to the pin. Finally, participants will try their luck at winning a Hole-in-One contest for a set of Nike irons. Tournament fees (which cover greens fees, a commemorative souvenir and post-tournament BBQ supper) are $125 per person; $500 for a team of four. Golfers of all calibers and levels of experience are welcome.
