East Bay Grille has a new home away from home with the opening of a restaurant at the Pinehills Golf Club.
Michael Cardelle, East Bay Grille’s general manager, and John Tuffin, director of golf at Pinehills Golf Club, are equally excited about the new partnership.
“We think we do a great job down on the waterfront, and to be asked to be a part of what they’re doing here is exciting for us,” Cardelle said.
Tuffin said he was familiar with the strength of the East Bay operation and reached out to Cardelle when looking for a new food partner.
“East Bay brings the consistency and excellence that we were looking for,” he said.
The Pinehills name is well known, Cardelle said, and it sounded like a good fit for East Bay Grille, with nine years at its waterfront location to be associated with the development. When the telephone rang, he said, he was pleasantly surprised by the call. The new East Bay opened March 23 and will be open year-round.
With more consistent hours, Tuffin said he hopes the restaurant will become more of a regular destination not only for residents of The Pinehills and golf club guests but for residents who live south of Exit 3 and will welcome a new place to eat closer to home. With The Pinehills is just one-third of the way toward being fully developed, Tuffin said there’s a need for more dining alternatives.
By partnering with the owners of an established restaurant in town, Tuffin said, many diners will know what to expect. The new East Bay Grille at The Pinehills will be similar to the waterfront restaurant in terms of the quality of the food made with fresh ingredients and a high level of service, Cardelle said. About 80 percent of the menu items from the waterfront restaurant will be served at the golf club, and there will be some theme dinners.
The Pinehills restaurant will offer complimentary valet service after 5 p.m., a new sound system and several new televisions have been installed, and the restaurant will feature entertainment on weekends. Some tables will be set for outside dining. Cardelle hopes to offer delivery and catering services.
East Bay Grille at Pinehills Golf Club will be open daily for lunch from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and for dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. The bar will stay open until at least midnight if not until closing.
