While Plymouth Rock Studios continues to move through the planning process for a new studio, executives are being vague about the overall picture.
Plymouth Rock Studios Development Partner Bill Wynne said executives hope to close on a deal for the Waverly Oaks Golf Club property within three months but could not be more specific.
During Monday night’s Planning Board meeting, Wynne said plans for the first phase of the studio project, including the construction of the 14 sound stages, would be submitted to the planning department “soon.” After the meeting, he would only commit to submitting phase one plans this fall.
“We hope to break ground before the snow gets too serious,” he said.
On episodes of The Series, a daily Web update from Plymouth Rock Studios to online subscribers, executives have been promoting a “Countdown to Construction.” The most recent episodes of The Series have chronicled the progress made on the closing of the construction loan.
Wynne said securing construction financing will be a major milestone for the project. Details of the financing will become available when Plymouth Rock Studios makes a major announcement on the future of the studio, he added, but was vague on when that announcement would be made.
The passage of a Movie and Entertainment Production Overlay District bylaw and Planning Board approval of a master site plan for the studio have been achieved.
