Plymouth —

PLYMOUTH – The first day of summer in Plymouth was a beautiful one and held the promise of many more to come. Blue skies and warm temperatures beckoned people to our seaside community and many took to the water or the beaches in search of either adventure or relaxation.
It was a perfect day for walking the jetty that protrudes into Plymouth Harbor, in the quest for some exercise or the perfect catch. And more than a few people were perched on rocks to take in the sun’s rays.

The view of the town from the jetty was picturesque, with the spires of churches and the synagogue and the dome of the old Court House rising above the tree line.
It was also a good day to be on the water on either a private boat or one of the commercial vessels operating out of Plymouth Harbor. The Pilgrim Belle, an authentic Mississippi-style paddles wheeler, cruises the harbor while a local history expert describes the sites and the Capt. John boats offer a harbor cruise as well as whale-watching excursions and deep-sea fishing trips.
Lots of folks made their way across the harbor to enjoy the protected water off Saquish Beach and a peaceful view of Clark’s Island.
Plymouth Beach was also a beautiful spot to enjoy the first day of summer. Shore birds swooped over the dunes while beachgoers walked, played games, or relaxed on the sand Numerous boats were anchored off the beach, as well as some personal watercraft, perhaps rented in the harbor.
It was a perfect day and quite a few folks found the perfect ending – a seafood dinner enjoyed overlooking the harbor.
