Sagamore Bridge travel tips

If you're traveling to or from Plymouth to the Cape, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce reminds drivers to plan ahead when traveling on or off the Cape via the Sagamore Bridge during the early spring construction phase, which is expected to be completed before Memorial Day weekend. The bridge is reduced to one lane in each direction while U.S. Army Corps of Engineers crews work 20 hours a day on pavement/waterproofing repairs that are essential to protecting the bridge’s underlying steel and concrete grid deck. The work is critical to ensure the structural integrity and safety of the 75-year-old bridge. The Chamber offers the following reminders and tips for travelers: plan ahead and allot extra time to your trip; if possible, avoid traveling during peak travel times on weekdays (7-9 a.m. and 5-7 p.m.); use the Bourne Bridge if possible; carpool with friends and co-workers; or consider public transportation to help ease congestion and your carbon footprint.
