Mid-April to mid-May: Thousands of herring make their journey from the ocean into Town Brook and up the fish ladder at Jenney Grist Mill on their way to spawn in Billington Sea, a freshwater pond. Sunday, May 11: Make plans today to treat your mother (or yourself) to a delicious brunch in honor of Mother’s Day at Plimoth Plantation. Take part in a hands-on workshop for children in the Visitor Center Courtyard from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that is free with admission. The workshop will provide your child with a wonderful opportunity to create a handmade Mother’s Day present or simple memento of their visit to the museum. Reservations are required. Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18: Plimoth Plantation holds its annual plant sale in the Horticulture Center. In addition to hard-to-find herbs and plants this sale offers heirloom flowers and vegetables. Arrive early for the best selection.

Saturday, May 17: The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra will present its Spring Pops Concert, a tribute to the great Tony Bennett, at 8 p.m., in Memorial Hall. Celebrate a living legend when guest host Ron Della Chiesa and song stylist Steve Marvin return to the Phil for a great Pops concert. Call 508-746-8008 for tickets and information.

Monday, May 19: The Plymouth Antiquarian Society will host its Antiquarian Golf Tournament at Souther’s Marsh Golf Club in Plymouth. Help preserve local history while you enjoy an afternoon on an award-winning scenic New England course. Fee of $110 per player includes all golf fees, dinner, and a contribution to the Antiquarian Society. Includes luncheon on the grounds of a private Colonial Revival estate designed by Joseph Everett Chandler. Fee $30; $25 members and advance discount.

Saturday, June 21: Plimoth Plantation’s Wampanoag Indigenous Program (WIP) hosts its 11th annual Patuxet Strawberry Thanksgiving at the Wampanoag Homesite, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event includes ceremony, singing, dancing, feasting and games. Visitors will participate with WIP staff, as well as many Native community members, as they reenact this daylong celebration of thanks with 17th century football games, mishoon (canoe) races, feasting and Eastern social songs and dances.

Friday, July 4: Plymouth’s Fourth of July festivities will include a parade, scheduled to kick off at 9:30 a.m., a waterfront concert, held at 7:30 p.m., and fireworks over Plymouth Harbor at approximately 9:15 p.m. For more information, call 508-746-1838.

Sunday, July 6: Sponsored by the Plymouth Antiquarian Society, the annual Pilgrim Breakfast will be held at the Harlow Old Fort House (Route 3A) from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Costumed servers dish out piping hot fare, while strolling singers share songs, riddles and 17th-century cheer. This hearty New England breakfast is a local tradition not to be missed. Proceeds benefit the preservation of the 1677 Harlow House. Fee is $10 per person; $9 members. Family discount available. Saturday, July 19: The Annual Blessing of the Fleet and boat parade will be held at Town Wharf, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The blessing will be held at 1 p.m. The event includes music, booths, and appearances by the U.S Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department and others.

Fridays in August: Pilgrim Progress begins at the Mayflower Society House off North Street at 6 p.m. every Friday in August. Each of the 51 participants in the Pilgrim Progress portrays a specific survivor of Plymouth Colony’s first winter in 1620-1621, following the arrival of the Mayflower. The progress re-enacts the group’s assembly and march to worship on Burial Hill.

Aug. 15 to 24: The Marshfield Fair, and old-fashioned agricultural fair complete with rides, entertainment and more, will be held at the nearby Marshfield Fairgrounds. For more information, call 781-834-6629 or visit www.marshfieldfair.org.

Friday, Aug. 22: The Plymouth Antiquarian Society hosts a Sacco & Vanzetti dinner, at 7 p.m., at Hedge House on Water Street. Explore the history and legacy of a later group of Plymouth settlers – the Italian-Americans – during a classic Italian dinner and program under the grand tent on the lawn overlooking Plymouth Harbor. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 23 and 24: The annual Plymouth Waterfront Festival kicks off with art and crafts shows, duck races, Motor Head’s Cruise-In, “America’s Hometown” Plymouth Idol competition, a carnival, live entertainment and “Row to the Rock,” featuring homemade replicas of Mayflower II racing to be first to reach Plymouth Rock.
